BARBITUATES

Barbiturates are a class of drug that have been derived from barbituric acid. Historically, barbiturates were used in the treatment of anxiety, epilepsy, as anesthetics, and to induce sleep. Nowadays, barbiturates have been largely superseded by safer drugs.

Barbiturates prolonged use causes dulled, slow thinking, emotional instability, irritation, poor physical coordination etc.

Barbiturates regular uses leads to drug dependence, which in turn leads to irreversible psychological consequences.
